Pics!

A-ha!
Here are some photos from the paper making workshop several weeks ago, as well as from the book binding and letterpress workshops that are ongoing... I had to get people to remind me to take photos!
Next week we start sewing our text blocks together in the book binding workshop and on Tuesday everyone (fingers crossed) in the ABCs of Letterpress class will be printing their one colour broadside on the Vandercook SP15 and learning how that press works.

A freshly pulled sheet of white cotton.

Andrew is adding some found suburban detritus to his pulp before making his sheets.

Andrew's sheet with suburban detritus inclusions (Oo! that sounds  so pretentious!)

Dan peeling his sheets off the felts after pressing. He pulled such nice thin white sheets of
paper that he found using some newsprint pressed onto the damp sheet was helpful in pulling it off the felts for drying.
Andrew laying his cover on his accordion book while Sophie watches.

Cori looking happy with her wee accordion book.

The beginning of Dana's broadside.

Checking out the wood type and metal type before composing broadsides.

Sheila is going to try to set some rules on angles!!

Kerning the wood type.

PPP

I check out what is up on  "etsy" every once in a while... there are people making some really great work  in there. You just have to sift through it... a lot! The two photos are from Purgatory Pie Press Ink.
They do letterpress!... and not just for cards and invites!!... they actually do creative book projects! Type and book form together! Awesome!! You might think their prices are a bit steep, but they aren't. Not for the amount of technical know how and creativity they have. Their stuff is a little quirky, but I love it!

Almost Wayzgoose!!!

Wow! What a response to the workshops!!
The May 1st Intro. to Letterpress is full!
Also, for clarificatio, the Leterpress 1 workshops are both on Sundays.

It's the last weekend before Wayzgoose and I'm busy setting and printing!
During the week I hope to get around to binding some Cereal books!
Hopefully I'll remember to take photos to put up here as I go.

30 th Annual WAYZGOOSE in Grimsby, ON

WAYZGOOSE
Annual Bookarts Fair

Join us for the
30th Year of Wayzgoose!
April 26, 2008, 10am - 5pm

Every year on the last Saturday in April, the Grimsby Public Art Gallery celebrates Wayzgoose, a festival of Book Arts. This annual book arts fair brings together private presses from all across Canada and the United States representing the renewal of old friendships, the beginning of new ones, and the appreciation for handmade book and paper arts. Demonstrations and displays of paper making, book binding, calligraphy, paper marbling, and book making celebrates the love of fine art, fine craft, and stories.

I've been participating for almost 20 years!
Come on out and support the book arts and the creative people who love it!
